What you will do
Installs and buildouts
- Install and configure network equipment for new buildouts and refreshes: firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and primary and backup ISP handoffs
- Run, terminate, label and test structured cabling (Cat6 and fiber), and mount racks, patch panels and network cabinets
- Install and service low-voltage and AV systems, including digital menu boards, TVs, audio, security cameras and access control
- Set up and troubleshoot POS terminals, receipt and kitchen printers, kitchen display systems, payment devices and hosted VoIP phones
- Deploy, swap and refresh Hardware-as-a-Service equipment and handle returns of replaced gear
- Perform site surveys and walk-throughs for upcoming projects and help scope materials and labor
Service calls and support
- Respond to break-fix service calls, diagnose hardware, network and connectivity issues, and restore service fast, including critical emergencies
- Work live with our NOC and help desk during site visits, and escalate issues that need senior engineering support
- Represent Tekora professionally with store managers, franchise owners, general contractors and other trades on site
Documentation and standards
- Document every visit in our ticketing system: work performed, photos, as-built notes, serial numbers and rack layouts
- Keep tools, test equipment, vehicle stock and spare inventory organized and ready
- Follow PCI DSS and site security practices at every location
What you bring
Required
- 2+ years of hands-on field IT, network or low-voltage experience. MSP or multi-location retail and restaurant experience is a strong plus
- Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi and basic firewall configuration
- Structured cabling skills: pulling, terminating and testing with punch-down tools, connectors and cable testers
- Comfortable working on ladders and in ceilings, and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record and a reliable vehicle
- Able to pass a background check (required for client sites and PCI environments)
- Clear communication, a calm approach under pressure and a professional appearance
- Willingness to join the after-hours on-call rotation
Nice to have
- Fluent Spanish
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or Security+, BICSI Installer, Cisco CCNA, OSHA 10, or an NYC SST (Site Safety Training) card
- Experience with Fortinet, Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti equipment
- POS experience with platforms such as Toast, Square, Oracle MICROS or NCR Aloha
- Experience with IP cameras, access control, digital signage or VoIP phone systems
- Fiber termination or splicing experience
